In American Central Gas Companies Inc. v. Union Pacific Resources Group Inc., McKool Smith helped ACGC obtain a sizable award while bringing an end to an East Texas monopoly.

On behalf of ACGC, McKool Smith sued UPR and Duke Energy Field Services for their roles in monopolizing natural gas processing in Panola County, the largest natural gas producing county in East Texas.

ACGC’s decision to take on the biggest player in its market was courageous. McKool Smith helped prove that UPR and Duke maintained an unfair monopoly in violation of federal antitrust laws. Not only was ACGC made whole, but the award also enabled ACGC to lower costs for other gas processing customers in Panola County.
