DALLAS — McKool Smith's Lew LeClair is known as a lawyer’s lawyer, an attorney who always gives his best to his clients. Now, Dallas’ top business newspaper is also taking note of Mr. LeClair’s exceptional reputation.

In an inaugural special section titled “The Defenders,” the Dallas Business Journal is recognizing Mr. LeClair as one of the top 15 business defense attorneys in Dallas/Fort Worth.

The newspaper’s reporters and editors conducted a poll of general counsels, judges and other attorneys across the city to determine which lawyers companies call on in high-stakes legal disputes. Based on these interviews, Mr. LeClair was ranked among an elite group of attorneys who businesses want on their side when they walk into a courtroom.

“I am truly honored to be mentioned along with such superb attorneys,” says Mr. LeClair. “But what is really meaningful to me, day to day, is the trust our clients place in me and my fellow firm members. To me, that’s what the practice of law is all about.”

Mr. LeClair is a veteran trial lawyer who has practice for more than 30 years. He is an acknowledged expert in the field of commercial and intellectual property litigation. His clients include the Enron Creditors Committee in litigation arising from one of the largest bankruptcies in history, the Texas Rangers Baseball Club in a case involving a trade secret claim, and Excel Communications in landmark software patent litigation, among many others.

Mr. LeClair twice has been named to the Dallas Business Journal’s list of top litigators. Additionally, in 2004 and 2005 he earned selections as a Texas Super Lawyer in Texas Monthly.

With more than 130 litigators working as an integrated team across offices in New York, Washington, D.C. and Texas, McKool Smith has established a reputation as one of America’s leading trial firms. The firm has been recognized by The National Law Journal and VerdictSearch for winning more Top 100 verdicts than any other U.S. law firm during the past three years.  McKool Smith represents leading clients across a broad range of practice areas, including complex commercial litigation, intellectual property, bankruptcy, and white collar defense.
