Two from McKool Smith Among Dallas’ Best Lawyers

DALLAS – McKool Smith co-founder Mike McKool Jr. and firm principal Robert M. Manley have earned spots on D Magazine’s 2007 Best Lawyers in Dallas list.

In the publication’s May 2007 issue, D Magazine features 239 attorneys in 20 practice areas who have been selected by their peers as the city’s best. Mr. McKool is honored for his work in business litigation, and Mr. Manley is honored for his work in intellectual property litigation.

This marks D Magazine’s fourth edition of the “Best Lawyers in Dallas,” which is published every other year. Mr. McKool has been included on the prestigious list every year, and Mr. Manley has repeatedly earned a spot on the magazine’s separate listing of the city’s top young lawyers.

Mr. McKool is trial counsel for some of the largest corporations in the world, including major airlines, energy companies, telecommunications firms and investment banking houses. During his legal career of more than 30 years, he has helped earn verdicts and settlements worth billions of dollars for clients.

Mr. Manley handles complex business litigation and intellectual property litigation for successful companies in courtrooms across the United States. He serves as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Southern Methodist University School of Law, and is the founder and chairman of the McKool Smith Pro Bono Criminal Trial Program, which provides criminal jury trial counsel to the underprivileged.

To select the Best Lawyers in Dallas, D Magazine solicited nominations from practicing attorneys working in Dallas. Voters were required to nominate only those attorneys whose work they had observed firsthand, including firm colleagues, co-counsel and opposing counsel. The magazine’s executive editor then met with a blue-ribbon panel of attorneys to finalize the list.
