McKool Smith Adds Two Attorneys in Austin Office
Lateral hires from Dewey Ballantine bolster firm’s intellectual property expertise
AUSTIN – McKool Smith, P.C., one of the nation’s largest trial firms, is announcing the addition of two attorneys in the firm’s Austin office, including noted intellectual property litigator Pierre J. Hubert.
Mr. Hubert, who previously was a partner in the Austin office of Dewey Ballantine, joins McKool Smith as a principal. He is joined by former Dewey Ballantine associate Craig N. Tolliver.
“We are very glad to welcome Pierre and Craig to McKool Smith,” says Mike McKool Jr., co-founder of the firm. “Their intellectual property experience will immediately benefit our clients across the board in Austin and the rest of the country.”
“This is a homecoming of sorts,” says Mr. Hubert, “because I have known several of the attorneys at McKool Smith for many years, having clerked alongside them at the Federal Circuit. I am very excited about working alongside them again in McKool Smith’s nationally-recognized intellectual property litigation practice.”
Mr. Hubert is well-known among his peers in the intellectual property bar and in the Austin legal community based on his work for business clients in a wide variety of intellectual property litigation. That work led Mr. Hubert’s fellow attorneys to select him as a “Texas Rising Star” in Texas Monthly magazine.
A former Federal Circuit clerk, Mr. Hubert practices in various federal courts, as well as handling client matters before the International Trade Commission. Like many attorneys at McKool Smith, Mr. Hubert has a background in electrical engineering, including a graduate degree.
Mr. Tolliver earned his law degree at Vanderbilt University Law School in Nashville after earning a degree in microbiology from the University of Florida.
McKool Smith has more than 85 attorneys in Dallas, Austin and Marshall, Texas, handling commercial and intellectual property litigation for national and international clients. The firm is recognized as one of the premier litigation law firms in the United States, having earned significant courtroom victories for clients such as Electronic Data Systems, BearingPoint, Ericsson, Medtronic Inc. and National Instruments.
