Michael McManus is a Principal in the Washington, DC office of McKool Smith. He has extensive experience in patent-based Section 337 litigation before the International Trade Commission and patent infringement litigation in the district courts.
Prior to joining McKool Smith, Mr. McManus was a partner with Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg, L.P. He also served as an attorney-advisor with United States Customs.

II. Representative District Court Matters
Mike has litigated numerous cases in the federal district courts including the following:
- The Wi-LAN Cases - From 2007 to early 2011 Mike was primarily engaged representing Wi-LAN, Inc., a Canadian technology company engaged in licensing its cutting edge wireless patent portfolio. This litigation comprised ten district court actions in Texas and seven in California. These cases were resolved favorably to Wi-LAN.
- California Innovations v. Igloo Products. Defended Igloo in a patent infringement lawsuit involving U.S. Patents 6,116,045; 6,067,816; 6,644,063 and 6,481,239 generally directed to cooler manufacture, design and technology such that Igloo was able to obtain a favorable settlement.
- Gillet Outillage v. Penn Tool Company et al., Case No. 03-cv-6299 ABC. Successfully defended Fisher Tool and its customers (including Penn Tool) from allegations of infringement of United States Patent No. 6,189,190 such that the plaintiff was forced to dismiss its case.
III. International Trade
Mike has represented numerous parties in administrative proceedings before Customs concerning tariff classification, NAFTA, ITC Exclusion Orders and related matters.
