Robert Kramer is a Senior Counsel in the New York office of McKool Smith. His practice focuses on intellectual property and antitrust litigation litigation and counseling, IP licensing and appeals. Mr. Kramer is a former law clerk to the Honorable Chief Judge Haldane Robert Mayer on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and has experience in various trial courts, the Federal Trade Commission and the European Commission.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kramer was Vice-President Legal and Deputy General Counsel at Rambus Inc., and an attorney at other premier national law firms in Silicon Valley, Washington D.C. and New York City.  Mr. Kramer also has a masters degree in Rhetoric, which he taught to university students, and he is admitted to practice as a solicitor in the law courts of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia).

Representative Matters

Represented a semiconductor design firm in the licensing and enforcement of its intellectual property; including the largest patent judgment in the U.S. in 2006.

Litigated various patent actions involving wireless communication technologies, semiconductor memory devices, ASICs, hard drives, CD mastering technology, polydextrose manufacturing techniques, medical scanning devices, slot machines, computer mice, ski boots and coaxial cable bonding techniques.

Negotiated IP licenses (contentious and non-contentious) in the U.S., Asia, Europe and Australia.

Advised clients in acquiring and protecting foreign and domestic trademarks for a number of media, beverage, construction, home appliance, retail and Internet companies.

Conducted due diligence for the acquisitions of large IP portfolios.
