Brandon Jordan is an associate in McKool Smith’s Washington, DC office.  Prior to joining the firm he was an associate with Dewey & LeBoeuf’s Washington, DC office.  Mr. Jordan’s practice deals with complex patent, copyright, and trademark infringement litigation.  He has represented clients in district courts, the International Trade Commission, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. 

With a professional and educational background in computer engineering, Mr. Jordan’s patent litigation experience includes technologies such as computer software and network routing, as well as medical devices, instruments, and surgical techniques.   Mr. Jordan’s litigation experience also includes enforcement of copyrights and trademarks against infringement occurring on the Internet and trademark cancelation proceedings before the Patent and Trademark Office.

Prior to entering the practice of law, Mr. Jordan worked as a software systems developer for The Courtroom 21 Project (now Center for Legal and Court Technology) and ITI-TranscenData.  He also clerked for the Honorable Susan J. Crawford of the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.   

Representative Matters

  • Certification Trendz, Ltd. v. Ning Zhou, et al. (E.D. Va. 2009).  Represented Certification Trendz in a trademark and copyright enforcement action involving Internet distribution of certification test preparation materials, successfully obtaining a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction.
  • Certain MLC Flash Memory Devices and Products Containing Same (U.S.I.T.C. 2009).  Represents BTG International in proceedings in the United States International Trade Commission against numerous respondents for patent infringement involving Multi-Level Cell flash memory chips.
  • Medtronic Sofamor Danek USA, Inc. et al., v. NuVasive, Inc. (S.D. Cal. 2008).  Represented Medtronic in a patent infringement case involving medical devices and surgical techniques.
