Sachin S. Bansal

Sachin S. Bansal is an associate in McKool Smith’s New York office. Prior to joining the firm, he was an associate with Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP. Mr. Bansal’s practice involves a wide range of litigation, including complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy, government investigations and white collar matters. He is conversant in Spanish, and fluent in Hindi.
Mr. Bansal is currently a pro bono counsel to the Duke Law Wrongful Convictions Clinic in connection with its factual investigation of a North Carolina prisoner’s claim of actual innocence. Prior to joining McKool Smith, he helped win a section 1983 appeal for a Virginia prisoner before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and a new trial for a Tennessee death row inmate through state habeas proceedings.
Representative Matters
- Madoff. Counsel to a leading Swiss private bank in connection with multiple lawsuits pending in a Chapter 15 bankruptcy and related foreign proceedings arising out of the Madoff Ponzi scheme.
- Insider Trading Investigation. Counsel to a former hedge fund portfolio manager in federal criminal and regulatory investigations arising out of the use of an expert networking firm.
- Oil Producers Litigation. Counsel to more than 80 independent Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas oil producers in lawsuits against Goldman Sachs subsidiary J. Aron & Company and a BP subsidiary arising out of a major midstream energy transporter’s bankruptcy. Previously represented a post-confirmation representative for litigation matters and claims objections.
