Thomas Crisman is a Principal in the Dallas office of McKool Smith whose practice deals with patent licensing and intellectual property litigation.
In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Crisman also brings a background of many years of practice in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the fields of electronics, computer hardware and software and telecommunications.
Prior to joining McKool Smith, Mr. Crisman was a Shareholder at Jenkens & Gilchrist and was the Chairman of the Intellectual Property Group at Johnson & Gibbs. He served as Adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property Law at Southern Methodist University School of Law for eight years.

Ericsson Inc. Mr. Crisman represented Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson and Ericsson Inc. in InterDigital Technology Corp. vs. Ericsson Inc., a patent infringement litigation related to TDMA cellular radio technology.
Banctec, Inc. In Harold S. Hemstreet vs. Banctec Inc., Mr. Crisman represented Banctec in patent infringement litigation relating to optical character recognition technology.
American Airlines Inc. Mr. Crisman successfully defended American Airlines Inc. in Lawrence B. Lockwood vs. American Airlines Inc., a patent infringement case related to travel booking and ticket purchase kiosks. In ICOT Corporation vs. American Airlines Inc., he represented American Airlines’ Sabre System in defense of a computer software/firmware copyright infringement litigation that was settled favorably for his client.
Century Plastics Inc. In Century Plastics Inc. vs. Precision Instruments, Mr. Crisman represented Century Plastics, a subsidiary of Glitsch Inc., in a trade secret litigation regarding hospital identification bracelets.
VE Holding Company. In VE Holding Company v. Johnson Gas Appliance Co., Mr. Crisman represented a patent owner, VE Holding, in a successful conclusion of a patent infringement and trade secret litigation in the field of animal feed processing.
