Douglas Edwards is an Associate in the Austin office of McKool Smith whose practice deals with patent infringement and complex commercial litigation.

Prior to joining McKool Smith in 2002, Mr. Edwards was with the firm of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati, P.C. From 1987-1998, he worked as a Design Engineer and Program Manager in the Antenna and Non-Metallics Laboratory for Texas Instruments  

Representative Matters

National Instruments. In National Instruments v. MathWorks, Mr. Edwards represented National Instruments in patent infringement litigation regarding visual programming languages. Mr. Edwards also represented National Instruments in a follow-on case regarding a similar patent infringement dispute.

EDS. Mr. Edwards represented Electronic Data Systems ( EDS) in DataTreasury v. EDS, a patent infringement case relating to electronic check processing.

Infineon. Mr. Edwards represented Infineon in Staktek v. Infineon, a patent infringement case relating to semiconductor memory.

Nortel Networks. Mr. Edwards represented Nortel in Ciena v. Nortel, a patent infringement case concerning telecommunications technology. 

American Airlines.  Mr. Edwards represents American Airlines in Katz v. American Airlines, a patent infringement case concerning telecommunications technology.

EDS, Suntrust Bank, KeyCorp and PNC Bank.  Mr.  Edwards represents these defendants in a patent infringement case concerning banking systems.
