Robert Goodfriend is an appellate specialist who has successfully represented numerous clients before state and federal appellate courts, and the United States Supreme Court.

Author of numerous articles, including “Preserving Error in Punitive Damage Cases: An Agenda for New Constitutional Challenges to an Old System,” 1990.

Representative Matters

Coit Independence Joint VenturePoint v. FSLIC. Argument before U.S. Supreme Court concerning right to have creditor claims heard in federal court. 9-0 ruling in favor of Mr. Goodfriend’s clients.

Debra Walker, et al v. City of Mesquite. Represented homeowners in a case involving a federal court order to construct public housing in Dallas neighborhoods. Successfully argued case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.

Alcatel USA, Inc. v. DGI Technologies, Inc. Represented Alacatel in an appeal of a judgment involving copyright and trade secret claims. Successful result for Alcatel.

DSC Communications v. Next Level Communications Corp. Represented DSC in an appeal of a trade secret case.

City of Arlington TX v. Golddust Twin Realty Corp., et al. Represented the City of Arlington in a successful appeal of an eminent domain case involving the Ballpark in Arlington.

The Genmoora Corporation v. Moore Business Forms, Inc. Represented Moore in a successful appeal and reversal of a $3 million breach of contract case.

Layman v. Xerox. Overturned a $9 million verdict against Xerox for age and sex discrimination.

City of Dallas v. Southwest Airlines Co. Successful appeal of a case involving Southwest’s right to remain at Love Field.

Brown v. Texaco. Successful reduction of a $15 million verdict. Case then settled favorably for Texaco.
