Holly E. Engelmann is an Associate in the Dallas office of McKool Smith whose practice deals with complex commercial and intellectual property litigation.

Prior to law school, Ms. Engelmann was a high school teacher at John Glenn High School in Norwalk, California. During law school, she was a Staff Editor on the SMU Law Review and published a casenote in the annual Texas Survey edition titled, Guzman v. State, Southern Methodist University Law Review, Vol. 56, No. 3, Summer, 2003.

In the spring of 2002, Ms. Engelmann was inducted into the Monteith Inn of Phi Delta Phi. She received the Best Brief award and was a finalist in the 2002 National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition as well as in the 2002 Howie Sweeney Competition. In the spring of 2003, Ms. Engelmann was inducted into the National Order of the Barristers and received a Best Advocate of the Year award from the Dedman School of Law Board of Advocates.

During law school, Ms. Engelmann interned with Justice Craig T. Enoch of the Supreme Court of Texas, as well as for Justice David W. Chew of the Eighth Court of Appeals of Texas.

Representative Matters

  • Eolas.  Represents Eolas in a patent infringement action against multiple defendants involving embedding interactive objects in web pages.
  • Ericsson, Inc.  Represents Ericsson in a patent infringement action against multiple defendants involving wireless products.
  • Medtronic, Inc.  Represents Medtronic in a patent infringement action involving drug-eluting stents.
  • Deep Marine Holdings, Inc.  Represented the Post-Confirmation Trustee in pursuing bankruptcy and civil claims.
  • Lockheed Martin.  Represented Lockheed Martin in L-3 Communications Integrated Systems, LP v. Lockheed Martin Corporation, an antitrust suit brought by L-3 involving refurbishment of P-3 fixed wing maritime surveillance aircraft by foreign governments.
  • Visto Corporation.  Represented Visto Corporation in several patent infringement suits related to cell phone technology.
  • Quorum Health Resources. Represented Quorum Health Resources in a breach of contract arbitration related to the healthcare management industry.
  • Enron Creditors Committee. Represented Enron’s unsecured creditors against various defendants close to the Enron collapse. 
  • Gulf South Pipeline Co.  Represented Gulf South in a citizen suit brought on behalf of East Texas landowners alleging violations of the Pipeline Safety Act.
