Alice Suh Jou is an associate in the Washington, DC office of McKool Smith.  Prior to joining the firm, Alice was an associate with Jones Day.  Her practice focuses on intellectual property litigation and international trade.  Alice has experience in patent litigation in federal district courts and at the International Trade Commission (ITC).  She has substantial experience litigating standards-essential patents, including patents declared essential to the IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) and 802.3 (PoE) standards. 

In international trade, Alice has defended clients in federal criminal, civil and agency proceedings related to export controls of defense and dual-use items (semiconductors, communications equipment, satellite components) and pharmaceutical imports.  During law school, she worked on export controls at the Department of Commerce in the Bureau of Industry and Security.

Prior to practicing law, Alice directed a medical foundation supporting tuberculosis hospitals in Korea.  While at MIT, she studied speech recognition and acoustics at the MIT Research Laboratory of Electronics.
