The Honorable Alan D. Albright, United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, was sworn in on September 18, 2018. Since then, Judge Albright’s docket has grown to include approximately 20% of the country’s newly filed patent cases. Prior to joining the bench, Judge Albright wore many hats, from adjunct professor at The University of Texas School of Law to United States Magistrate Judge to law firm partner. Judge Albright enjoys running and cycling, as well as spending time with his family and watching his sons play lacrosse.
Kat Li is a principal at McKool Smith who specializes in patent litigation. She represents individual inventors and startups as well as large corporations and Fortune 100 companies in high-stakes, bet-the-company cases. Kat’s highly technical background coupled with her courtroom experience has resulted in significant victories for her U.S. and Asian clients. Kat is an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the legal industry, and she mentors students pursuing STEM degrees and entering the legal field. Kat lives in Austin with her husband and their two children.
