New York Principal Jeffrey Schwartz provided commentary to AP News for their coverage of the Sears bankruptcy.  The article, “Sears’ Chairman Stands at the Center of Fight for Company,” discusses how Edward Lampert, the billionaire who led Sears Holdings Corp. into bankruptcy, has increased his offer to more than $5 billion, in a last-ditch effort to keep the ailing retailer alive.  If Sears goes to straight liquidation, Lampert would be vulnerable to any legal claims stemming from deals that he previously made to sell some of the company’s assets, another reason why he may be trying to dodge that outcome, according to Jeff.
