NEW YORK, April 17--Gayle Klein, a principal in McKool Smith’s New York office and an alumna of The University of Texas at Austin, has raised more than $50,000 along with a committee of alumni to benefit the University’s Sharon H. Justice Leadership Scholarship Endowment.

As a founding member of the Sharon H. Justice Leadership Scholarship Endowment, Ms. Klein was on hand to give remarks at The University of Texas Student Affairs Reunion held on April 13, 2013, where the University honored Dr. Sharon Justice by endowing a scholarship in her name. More than 300 guests were in attendance. Dean Justice served as the Dean of Students at the University from 1985 to 2001. She is the first female to hold the position.

“Dean Justice is and has been committed to empowering women and helping them to develop the leadership skills necessary to make a difference at the University of Texas and beyond,” said Ms. Klein. “This endowment will further cement the legacy of a woman who not only blazed a trail, but also created opportunities for women to blaze their own trails.”

The Sharon H. Justice Leadership Scholarship Endowment was established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System on November 28, 2012. The endowment will be awarded annually to a junior or senior student who has displayed exemplary campus leadership.
