McKool Smith offers young lawyers tremendous opportunity and responsibility. As a first year lawyer, I went to trial three times. Despite being a junior member of the team, I oversaw trial briefing, stood up in court to argue evidentiary disputes, and was even given the opportunity to conduct the direct examination of a key fact witness. Since then, I have taken over a dozen depositions, drafted and argued numerous motions, and been lucky enough to learn under the greatest trial lawyers in the country. But it is the culture at McKool Smith that truly sets the firm apart from its peers. Everyone here is considered a team member, and everyone is equally invested in the firm’s success—from the senior partners to the incredible support staff. And though we work on important, high-stakes cases, the atmosphere is anything but uptight. McKool Smith gives every attorney the autonomy to work in whichever way is most productive for that individual. It’s incredibly refreshing to work at a firm where “face time” is desired rather than required. Simply put, there is no better place to practice law.
