McKool Smith Secures the Most "Top 100 Verdicts" for Second Straight Year
DALLAS – For the second year in a row, the law firm of McKool Smith won more of the country’s Top 100 Verdicts than any other law firm in the United States.
McKool Smith helped clients secure four of the country’s Top 100 Verdicts during 2009, according to a recent report published in The National Law Journal. No other U.S. law firm won more than two of the nation’s top 100 jury awards. The annual list is based on research compiled by IncisiveMedia’s VerdictSearch, the recognized leader in U.S. verdict information.

- i4i v. Microsoft – Led by firm principals Douglas Cawley, Gordon White, Jeff Carter, Kevin Burgess, Rosemary Snider, Jill Lynch, and Randy Carter, McKool Smith won a $200 million patent infringement verdict for Toronto-based software maker i4i Inc. against software giant Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT).
- Versata v. SAP AG – Led by firm principals Sam Baxter, Scott Cole, Steve Pollinger, and Ted Stevenson, McKool Smith won a $138 million patent infringement verdict for Austin, Texas-based enterprise software maker Versata Software Inc. against global software provider SAP AG.
- City of San Antonio v. Hotels.com, et al. – Led by firm principals Gary Cruciani, Tom Graves, Steve Wolens, and Rosemary Snider, McKool Smith won a $20 million jury verdict for the city of San Antonio and more than 170 Texas cities in class-action lawsuit over unpaid hotel occupancy taxes.
- OPTi Inc. v. Apple Inc. – Led by firm principals Carol Butner and Rosemary Snider, and co-counsel Michael Brody and Taras Gracey, partners at Winston Strawn, the team won a $19 million patent infringement verdict on behalf of Palo Alto, Calif., technology provider OPTi Inc. against Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL).
