On February 14, 2024, The Patent Trial and Appeal Board issued the final of its 18 institution decisions for the IPRs filed by Samsung against McKool Smith client Mojo Mobility, with McKool Smith avoiding institution for 16. With an institution rate of approximately 66% over the past two years, this decision reflects an 11% institution rate.

This decision follows Mojo Mobility’s 2022 lawsuit in the Eastern District of Texas claiming Samsung smartphones, wireless chargers, and earbuds infringe seven patents related to wireless charging technology.
