McKool Smith has been recognized in The National Law Journal listing of the “Top 100 Verdicts” of 2011 for securing a $345 million verdict for Versata Software Inc. in a patent infringement lawsuit against global software giant SAP America Inc. and its German-based parent company SAP AG.
Every year, The National Law Journal's VerdictSearch affiliate scours court records to compile a listing of the nation's largest verdicts. McKool Smith's Versata verdict is ranked as the eighth largest verdict in the country during 2011.
The jury verdict was issued May 13, 2011 following a one-week trial. Versata was awarded $260 million in lost profits and $85 million in reasonable royalties based on the finding that SAP infringed a Versata patent related to pricing technology.
