McKool Smith Hennigan has once again played an integral role in the success of the "Food From The Bar" (FFTB) campaign. FFTB is an annual four-week charitable effort led by the legal community to raise funds to help provide nutritious meals to families in Los Angeles County.

This year, our Los Angeles office raised approximately $39,524 and once again won the “Highest Per Capita Award” for raising the highest overall per capita contributions.  The office was also recognized as a Diamond Level contributor to the campaign. Diamond Level is the highest level available and was awarded to just four of the more than 70 law firms and legal organizations participating this year.  The entire FFTB campaign raised $500,000 for the hungry and food insecure communities throughout Los Angeles.  It is the ninth year that the office has joined in this regional effort to combat hunger.

Food From The Bar is a grass-roots campaign started by lawyers in 2009 to fight hunger among children. It consists of a five-week effort in which law firms and legal offices in Los Angeles engage in friendly competition to contribute money, donate food, and volunteer time sorting and packing food at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The campaign helps replenish food bank supplies to meet families’ increased needs during the summer months when children are out of school and are not receiving subsidized lunches and breakfasts.

The mission of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in the city. Since 1973, the Food Bank has distributed nutritious meals to millions of people in the region. One of the largest organizations of its kind in the nation, the Food Bank relies on the support of foundations, individual and corporate donors and volunteers.
