DALLAS – McKool Smith co-founder Mike McKool and firm principals Samuel F. Baxter, and Douglas A. Cawley  each have been named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America list.

The Lawdragon 500 list is the result of a research effort conducted by Lawdragon’s editorial staff that identified 30,000 nominees and 3,000 finalists. The final list of 500 Leading Lawyers represents 0.04 percent of the nation’s attorneys.

Being named to the Lawdragon 500 is the most recent honor for the four McKool Smith attorneys. Mr. McKool, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, is consistently included in D Magazine’s “Best Lawyers in Dallas” list, the Texas Super Lawyers list published in Texas Monthly, and The Best Lawyers in America® based on his work in commercial litigation. He previously was named by the Dallas Business Journal as one of the five Top Business Trial Lawyers in Dallas/Fort Worth, and he is listed in Chambers USA based on his expertise in intellectual property and commercial litigation matters.

Mr. Baxter is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is regularly featured in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, and the Texas Super Lawyers list based on his intellectual property and commercial litigation track record. Mr. Baxter is a former state district judge in Harrison County, where he leads the Marshall office of McKool Smith.

Mr. Cawley has been included in the Texas Super Lawyers list every year since 2003, and also is listed in The Best Lawyers in America based on his background in intellectual property litigation. In addition to being named as one of the country’s top intellectual property lawyers by Chambers USA, Mr. Cawley recently was featured in an article published by The Dallas Morning News that focused on McKool Smith’s courtroom wins in intellectual property cases against major corporations like Microsoft.

Mr. Cote, who leads McKool Smith’s New York office, has earned selection in the New York Super Lawyers list every year since 2006 based on his work in intellectual property cases for wide spectrum clients. Like several attorneys at McKool Smith, Mr. Cote holds a degree in electrical engineering, which provides him with exceptional insights in a variety of intellectual property claims.

With more than 130 litigators working as an integrated team across offices in New York, Washington, D.C. and Texas, McKool Smith has established a reputation as one of America’s leading trial firms. The firm has been recognized by The National Law Journal and VerdictSearch for winning more Top 100 verdicts than any other U.S. law firm during the past three years.  McKool Smith represents leading clients across a broad range of practice areas, including complex commercial litigation, intellectual property, bankruptcy, and white collar defense.
