Dallas Principal Avery Williams was featured in a World IP Review article discussing the recent settlement of a historic class action lawsuit filed against Anthropic by several authors who allege Anthropic used pirated books to train Claude, its AI model.

The settlement comes at a time when AI companies across the world are grappling with multiple copyright infringement claims from various creators, including authors, publishers, and musicians.

Considering Anthropic’s potential exposure in the suit, Avery noted "Against this backdrop and the potential of facing hundreds of thousands of infringement claims, reaching a settlement was on the cards for Anthropic."
