Federal investigators began probing Congressman Michael Grimm several years ago for allegedly taking illegal campaign contributions, but he was eventually indicted on unrelated tax fraud charges.  In discussing the significance of the indictment, Dan Levy, a principal in McKool Smith’s New York office explained, “This is essentially an off-the-books tax case, much like many others charged by federal prosecutors and most of which receive little notoriety.”
