Houston Principal Joshua Newcomer, and New York Principal Zach Mazin have been recognized in Benchmark Litigation’s 2017 “Under 40 Hotlist.” The publication honors the achievements of the nation’s most accomplished legal partners of the age of 40 or younger.  Through a process of peer review and case examination, this list has been compiled over a process of many months to assemble this collection of young, up-and-coming attorneys.

Joshua Newcomer focuses on general and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on energy litigation and arbitration. Prior to joining McKool Smith, Joshua was an associate at an international law firm and previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Carolyn Dineen King of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and to the Honorable William H. Yohn Jr. of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Before attending law school, Joshua was an Associate Consultant for L.E.K. Consulting in Boston and Singapore, where he focused on the aviation and pharmaceutical industries.

Zach Mazin tries complex civil cases arising out of business disputes, structured financial products and governmental investigations. He represents several trustees of residential mortgage-backed securitizations in actions seeking to recover billions of dollars from the investment banks who packaged and sold defective mortgage loans to unwitting investors. Zach is also an advisor to clients working in the business of sports. He counsels and represents team executives, players and football agents, and he is a NFLPA-certified contract advisor.
