McKool Smith Managing Principal David Sochia has been recognized as a diversity ally in the Lawyers of Color 2020 Power List.

Presented with the support of the Diverse Partners Network, the Lawyers of Color fifth annual Power List recognizes the most influential minority attorneys and allies in the nation, and includes general counsel, managing partners, and law school deans, as well as legal media and nonprofit leaders. Honorees will be recognized during a reception at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington, DC, on February 26 and profiled in the organization’s Power Issue.

As the Managing Principal of McKool Smith, David Sochia oversees the firm’s operations and works closely with the Chairman to develop and execute the firm’s strategic plans. David also serves as a leader of McKool Smith’s Diversity Committee, which is charged with ensuring the continuous improvement of the firm’s diversity and inclusion efforts.  

David is a trial lawyer who focuses on high-stakes patent litigation and complex commercial disputes. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts across the United States. In addition, David has extensive experience in intellectual property licensing consulting. His experience also includes CMBS litigation, business torts, partnership disputes, and breach of contract actions. His clients represent a broad range of industries, including computer software, technology and services, financial services, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Founded in 2008, Lawyers of Color is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities. The organization celebrates attorneys of color and conducts research and studies regarding the intersection of the legal profession and social justice.
